5 Things Not to Miss in Kauai

There are so many different things to see and do on Kauai, it may be hard to narrow it down. But here is a list of things that I always make an effort to see and do each time I visit Kauai...

See the Na Pali Coastline
Whether by sea or air, seeing the rugged Na Pali coastline is an absolute must-do while visiting Kauai. Pictures never do it justice, it is just one of things you must see in person in order to get a sense of its almost majestic-like cliffs with their razor-thin flutes. I highly recommend Na Pali Catamaran - their tour leaves from Hanalei Bay and is about 4 hours long and includes 45 minutes of snorkeling!

Watch a sunset at Hanalei Bay
After spending a day beach hopping along the North Shore of Kauai and dinner in Hanalei, head to Hanalei Bay for a beautiful sunset.  Hanalei Bay is picture-perfect with its waterfall-covered mountains in the background, its iconic pier, and boat-filled bay - it's what you picture Hawaii to look like and it's a perfect spot to watch the sun set behind the mountains.

Walk along the limestone cliffs on the South Shore
Visiting the South Shore is always a must do when vacationing in Kauai. Some of my favorite activities include sunbathing at Poipu Beach, snorkeling Lawai Beach, and checking off as many of my favorite restaurants as possible. But if there is one thing I always do when visiting Kauai, it's walking along the limestone cliffs on the South Shore. The landscape is so different compared to the North Shore that it will make you feel like you're on a completely different island. It's part of the Maha'ulepu Heritage Trail and it begins at the left side of Shipwreck Beach.

Go beach hopping on the North Shore
Beach hopping is probably my favorite activity on Kauai.  They're all so different, and each one is so uniquely beautiful.  Some of favorites on the North Shore include Ke'e Beach, Tunnels Beach, Hanalei Bay, Hideaways Beach, Sea Lodge Beach, and Anini Beach. I could keep going, but I'll stop there for this post.

Eat, shop, and walk around the town of Hanalei
Hanalei is a small beach town located on the North Shore. It's an eclectic little town, full of restaurants, shops, and historical places.  For a fun evening and a local-vibe atmosphere, head to Tahiti Nui to enjoy some drinks and listen to some live music. If possible, go on a Friday evening for their Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar performance.
