PREPPING FOR THE BEACH: DRY BRUSHING

We have one last beach escape planned before summer comes to a close. It's a big family beach trip to one of my favorite places! I am super excited, and can't wait to take Corey to the beach again...I'm just hoping we don't have too many "sand in eye" incidents like when we were in Bermuda ;) To get beach ready, I'm planning on trying something new - dry brushing.  I've never tried dry body brushing before, but it supposedly helps you achieve glowing skin and is a great way to exfoliate! Some other key benefits include removing dead skin cells, stimulating circulation, boosting cell renewal, and eliminating toxins for a bright, firm, and even skin tone. Sounds pretty good to me! I'm a little under the weather right now, (actually so are my husband and baby, which is just plain awful when we're all sick) so I could use a little pampering ;) but when I'm feeling better, I'm going to give this a try and then do all my other beach prepping - mani/pedi and packing!

There are a ton of "how to's" out there, but here are some simple tips I plan on using for dry brushing:

1. Use a natural bristle brush (plant-derived, no synthetic bristles)

2. Gently dry brush before showering or bathing using no lotions or oils

3. Use long strokes or circular motion strokes starting at your feet and moving up your body towards your heart (this stimulates circulation)

4. Once you've brushed your entire body, jump in the shower or bath

5. Apply your favorite lotion or body oil (I love coconut oil!)

6. To clean your brush just use soap and water

And that's it! Have you tried dry brushing?
