When we got home from the beach last week, my mom sent me this article to read about vacations with families by the Huffington Post...it could not be more true! If you've ever traveled with kids, you'll completely agree with the article. It pretty much says you don't vacation with kids (because vacations are meant for us to rewind and relax), what we experience when we travel with kids is considered a "trip." I couldn't help but laugh as I read the article, because while I had a great time at the beach with my family and kiddo...I would be lying if I said at times it wasn't stressful. It was A LOT of work with the kiddo. My husband had to stay home for most of the week because of work, so for four days it was just me and the kiddo. My parents tried to help here and there, but it's just not the same when your with your husband and you can pass the kiddo off when you need a break. But anyways, you should read the article, it's pretty good!
At the beach we spent most of our time going in the ocean, taking walks, and riding our bikes around the island. On one of my kiddo-free breaks, my sister and I took a walk on the beach and came across two baby sea turtles! I was so excited I couldn't stand it! Baby sea turtles are among one of my favorite animals. (A couple years ago we went to Mexico just so I could help release some baby sea turtles - it was on my bucket list for years!) We waited for the island's turtle patrol (they're the ladies with the gloves on) to show up, before leaving the little guys. We asked a bunch of questions before watching them try to release them again. It was one of the highlights from my trip.
It was so nice to wear a bikini again, even if it was high waisted. While it is pricey, I wanted to get my moneys worth, so it was definitely on repeat while at the beach!
